The Beppo-SAX expeiment (overview)
Abstract
The combination of the broad band narrow field instruments, the wide field cameras and gamma-ray burst monitor along with the operational capabilities of the whole BeppoSAX mission provide an unprecedented opportunity to study the X-ray variable sky. The presentation will focus on 2 main topics: the broad band spectra and variability of AGN (NGC 4151, 3C273, MCG-6-30-15,..) and the capabilities of the mission to observe transient phenomena, presenting some key results obtained on gamma-ray bursts, in particular the discovery of X-ray afterglows.
